TACS Exercise Program – Fun Online Workout
Share
Wish you had a place to go where the workout is made for you and your age? The American Cane System (TACS) was designed to make people who need a mobility aid more independent. Workouts don’t have to be drudgery. The TACS exercise program is designed to be fun while it gets you moving a little more freely. Of course, before you do anything, you should absolutely discuss your mobility issues with a medical professional. Ask whether exercise is ok. If it won’t do more damage, the next step is to actually move!
This TACS Exercise Program is For The Young at Heart
When we say our TACS exercise program is designed for seniors, we aren’t saying it’s for old people! We don’t feel old and we hope you don’t either. But everyone needs a place where they can get a little help with fitness, and enjoy the process of rebuilding body strength.
I have a friend who fought structured exercise for years. They didn’t want to deal with the boring workout, time and effort to rebuild their muscles. Finally, after months of nagging and bickering, they broke down and attended their first virtual dojo session with Grand Cane Master Mark Shuey. You know what? They LOVED IT! Mark is vivacious, and active and engaging and yes, FUN! Later of course, it was their idea in the first place to check it out. I don’t care whose idea it was, as long as another over-50 years young learned life isn’t over.
Why TACS Uses the Cane
Following a news story about three women injured in an attack, Grand Master Mark Shuey began to think about a solution. One of those three women had a cane, she had in her hand something she could have used to defend herself. If only she knew how to use that cane as a tool for self-defense.
She had the one tool that could have turned the attack around. A cane is the mobility device that can go anywhere; it won’t be confiscated in stadiums or on airplanes. And with the right training, a cane becomes the exercise and self-defense device you need.
More Benefits Began to Emerge from Training
And as he thought about it, Grand Master Mark Shuey developed The American Cane System (TACS) system of Cane Fu. When students began training, Grand Master Shuey quickly realized he need to develop a way to build strength and flexibility before defense moves. And the American Cane System of Cane Chi was created. By using the cane, students’ form was more on spot. This made the techniques more effective. Soon people could use those canes to grow in strength and flexibility and mobility as well as for self-defense.
Then other effects of training began to emerge. I’m referring to speedier rehabilitation periods for injuries, enhanced mental acuity along with the strength and flexibility. Emotionally, students began to report a more positive attitude. There was a noticeable improvement in how they handled stress. None of this is imagined. Recent studies have been revealing the beneficial effects of Yoga, Tai Chi and Cane Chi exercises for seniors.
You Got to Keep Going Forward
Even if you don’t feel like exercising, you need to find a way to do it. Years ago, my 90 year old mother suffered a particularly painful injury. When I asked her how she kept going day after day, she responded, “I just keep going forward.” After a pause, she added, “there’s really no other direction to go.” Of course mom was right…again. Staying sedentary, only makes complaints worsen as they appear with age. Movement of any kind requires more focus and effort if we don’t keep active. So I’m just going to remind you, like my mother told me, keep going forward, a step at a time.
The American Cane System is here to help you.
