Pick up Your Cane and Let’s Move!

Safe training that packs a powerful punch

Grandmaster Mark Shuey, your American Cane System instructor, has a new Cane Kata for you.  It is only available when you subscribe to the American Cane System Virtual Dojo, but you can see a vintage Kata here. Cane training under powerhouse Grandmaster Mark Shuey offers safe training that packs a powerful punch.

Remember, your heart needs exercise, to function well.  As we age, we tend to exercise less and less.  It just isn’t a good experience anymore.  We work out, and then spend a week recovering from new injuries…until now.   Other martial art trainers take you through steps as they know them.  Grandmaster Shuey uses his experience with senior trainees to  ease your body into amazingly effective training, reducing the chance of injuries.

WE CAN GET MOVING AGAIN!  WE NEED TO GET MOVING AGAIN!

The American Cane System virtual dojo lessons offer safe movements and techniques that will change your life.  Then energy levels you gain will amaze you.  If you are tired or worn out, if you wake up exhausted, it is time.  Treat your body to what it needs and it will give you what you need.  What does that mean?  Mark Shuey’s regular morning workouts begin with breathing techniques.  You can stay to get more benefits from intermediate training, but even the first 30 minutes will begin to change your body, helping it breath better, move better and function better.

Effect of Yoga, Tai Chi and Cane Chi on older adults.

  • Relieves physical effects of stress
  • Improves breathing
  • Improves lower body and leg strength
  • Reduces blood pressure and arthritis pain
  • Accumulates energy by releasing endorphins rather than depleting it
  • Enhances mental capacity and concentration
  • Improves balance and stability by strengthening ankles and knees
  • Promotes faster recovery from strokes and heart attacks
  • Improves conditions of Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s

The American Cane system is designed with older and limited-mobility adults in mind.  The techniques and exercises use a cane to improve results of training.  What is unique about GM Mark Shuey’s American Cane System is that the cane stops being a sign of weakness and becomes a weapon of strength.  The exercises are modified to include use of the cane.  It is ironic that mobility should be so vastly improved while using something viewed as a weakness.

You don’t need to be in better health to get started.  Get started, and better health will follow.

This is like the woman who cleans her house before the cleaning service comes over so they don’t see how bad it was.  You do not need to work out in order to get fit enough to work out.  And in case you wondered, you are not too old or immobile to begin.  Just work through it slowly and you will be amazed at how quickly energy begins to return.  The first change will be in your breathing.  This will be followed by a sensation of feeling good.  A slight improvement in energy will follow.  In the beginning the side effects may be pronounced or very slight.  As you follow the program, you will gain energy, balance and strength.  Research shows most participants in the programs experience an elevated mood as well.  Exercise really does make a difference, and we want you to benefit from it safely.  Contact us today for American Cane System session schedules and pricing.  We have a program that fits you.
